Inspiring Conversations with Tatiana Villa of Villa Group Insurance

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tatiana Villa.

Hi Tatiana, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Fierce leader and entrepreneur! I founded Villa Group Insurance after identifying a gap in the industry between engagement and education. My professional growth in insurance began at the forefront of private medical practices, experiencing first-hand how group health plans affected participants and their healthcare needs. I then transitioned into the carrier world, servicing members and solving their individual needs. After some years, I acquired a role as a Benefits Manager within a Professional Employer Organization (PEO) that allowed me to continue my quest of enhancing “the service to the consumer” model. I worked closely with clients whose business focus was in staffing for government-contracted positions for military entities across the United States. During this role, I gained extensive knowledge in Health and Welfare benefits, the McNamara O’Hara Service Contract Act (SCA) compliance, and benefits administration. It wasn’t until my role as a Vice President of Service for a local insurance brokerage that inspired me to spread her wings and FLY!

I’m a licensed life and health insurance agent. I proudly attained my Registered Employee Benefits Consultant (REBC) designation from the National Association of Health Underwriters. The NAHU views this designation as the highest form of recognition for leaders in the health insurance industry, demonstrating a commitment to educational leadership within the insurance profession. In addition, I carry several certifications such as PPACA, Worksite Benefits, Self-funding, Group Health Benefits, and Wellness. Thankfully having a 360-degree view and skillset confidently contributes to my client’s success in the world of business. In my downtime, you can catch me on the beach or creating unforgettable memories with my family.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being an entrepreneur is not easy; it requires a great deal of discipline, hard work, and dedication. One of the biggest struggles I faced as a business owner was how to set myself and my agency apart from the rest in such a crammed industry. I knew my business goals and what I needed to do to get us there but I had to remind myself of the “why” it is that I wanted to touch as many lives as I can by using insurance as a vehicle.

Instantly, I thought about my drivers, the fuel that ignited my fire… Keeping that in clear focus is what drove my business to flourish.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We are a Woman & Minority business, family-owned and operated with over 25 years of combined experience. Specializing in all lines of insurance – (Home, Auto, Commercial, Health, Life, Specialty and Employee Benefits). Being an independent agency and broker allows our clients to have the freedom of choice when shopping for insurance coverage while receiving personal in-house service. We are proud members of the NAWBO, Pride Chamber of commerce, and many other organizations that support local initiates and growth in small businesses.

Villa Group Insurance was built on the pillars of trust, transparency, and integrity. We are about building relationships that travel far beyond a sale and are here for the long haul. We create educated consumers who are grateful to have a true partner like us in insurance.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
The foundation of risk-taking is a personal choice. That personal choice heavily weighs upon how strongly you feel about staying within your safety net or pushing yourself beyond the boundaries to be uncomfortable. These are the two decisions we’re all faced with at some point in life.

In my early twenties, I lost my mother to a long and hard battle against cancer. She was my “why” I chose my career path of insurance. The effects of her passing made me realize how important it is for people to know about ways to protect the ones they love… Years later, I now have a new reason “why,” a special eight-year-old girl who inspires me to know you can accomplish whatever you put your heart into; I’m so proud to call her my niece, aka “Vicky G.”

It’s because of my old and new-founded reasons “why” I chose to be a risk-taker in this world and the next!
